got a larger than life surprise today. felt the earth move. nono it's not because the cow or what did his standing broad jump. but rather it was from the double quake in indonesia. measuring 6.- on the ritcher scale, it struck when lessons were ongoing.
so yeah. at first didn't realised. the joanna suddenly ask if we felt the ground shake. at first i never felt it. a little bit of concentration made me felt as if the earth had shivered. with that we were told to evacuate out of class to an open area, namely the soccer field. spent a lil bit of time there. then told to go back to class after tremours stopped.
2nd tremour came during spa LOL. jia tian had no choice but to ask us evacuate lols. so back to the field we went, where we saw this reporter faking an earthquake -.-. chye tin then dismissed the school.
students can't believe their ears. cries of ecstasy and cheers filled the air. but should we rejoice? at the expense of those lives and properties in indonesia. i think not. although i was also guilty of partaking in the celebrations, a search inside has classisifed this joy as empty.
ok time to get on with life.

jobs
i still remembered last time when adults tried to inculcate in us the habit of goalsetting they always asked 'what would you want to be when you grow up?' common answers included lawyers and doctors, with some going for something different such as being a pilot or vet, and others who look to their teacher as inspiration going that way. everyone wanted to be someone useful for society.
as we grow up and got more exposed to society, our aspirations changed. we realised not everybody could be doctors. imagine a whole country full of doctors, literally. no sense right. so we wanted to be fashion designers, so we could design the trendiest apparels for people to wear, or brilliant writers whose opinions could influence million others or make them weep with their poignant tales.
as we continue growing up, our aspirations change yet again. to be more money-oriented. no more noble aspirations to help the world. we wanna be doctors not to heal the sick, but to be after the insane salaries behind it. we be lawyers not to defend the innocent, but to defend the client who pays us the most. i guess it's because this is a materialistic world.
i always heard that sg ministers earn the most in the world. a report by RadioFreeEuropeRadioLiberty confirmed this. can't be biased towards us cos it's an foreign site. it says:
Singapore's prime minister draws an annual salary of $600,000 per year, a world record, while the Japanese prime minister makes over $300,000 per year.
a yahoo forumer provided this information:
Annual salaries of heads of government:1. Singapore Prime Minister US$1,100,000 (S$1,958,000) a year2. United States of America President: US$200,0003. United Kingdom Prime Minister: US$170,5564. Australia Prime Minister: US$137,060Annual salaries of heads of government:1. Singapore Minister: US$819,124 2. UK Minister: US$146,2993. US Cabinet Secretary: US$157,000.
seems the prospect of a minister looks promising. it is decided then. i wanna become a minister.
PS: nothing bad is written here, so people can't sue me.
